On Watch 4 hotsite they "seem" to indicate that only Galaxy phones will be fully compatible with all the features, so if that's true it's really a bummer (jeez, Samsung WHY, OH WHY). Thanks in advance for any input. Yes, ECG and blood pressure monitoring won't work without a Samsung phone, and blood pressure monitoring is further restricted if you're outside of the US. The steps below provide a fully functional work around (I'm in the US using an LG phone and have full access to these two features on my Galaxy watch 5). Despite holding back ECG and irregular heart rate notification features from non-Samsung phones, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is the best Android smartwatch you can buy, besting both the regular Watch 6 and the Google Pixel Watch.
I'm not saying it doesn't suck those are locked behind samsung phone payroll, but at the same time they aren't things that I'd assume the majority of people would use. The rest of the sensors and features (including the BIA for body comp) are available to non-samsung android phones.
So I just found out the gen 5 BP and ECG only work with Samsung phones there was a work around for gen 4. Pretty upset about this This was the only reason I purchased the watch - why does samsung not sell android compatible gear, and they need a big warning on thier page. Install shm mod companion and from there you can install everything for xTgR.
